Our first year has been a huge learning experience for all of us and we have certainly found out how difficult it can be to be awarded grants. The process of submitting grant applications can certainly be overwhelming, as it takes time and persistence, while also being flexible enough to be able to comply to some odd details and restrictions. If successful, the reward can be a huge win for the Lake Eau Galle Association. In our first year, we have two related wins.
- In the summer of 2022, the DNR wrote and self-funded a grant for a plant and depth study of Lake Eau Galle.
- The Aquatic Plant Management plan grant that we worked hard for was funded by the DNR and the Lake Eau Galle Sportsman’s Club (for March-December 2023). Consultant Dave Blumer of Lake Activities and Education Planning will conduct the study and provide us with a five-year plan for our aquatic plants.
More grants are certainly needed to fund the dredging/excavating projects on the northern third of the lake. If you are aware of sources of relevant grants, please let Marilyn Sinz know.
